The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that the quality system is in accordance with the company's AS9120/IS09001 quality program and quality/reliability standards satisfy customer specifications and expectations. 

The Quality Manager is responsible for the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the quality management system is established, implemented, maintained and updated per ISO9001 / AS9120 requirements. 
  • Provide hands-on management for all elements of the Quality Management System. These include, but are not limited to, quality action plans and objectives, customer corrective actions and complaints, contract review, audit processes and document control.  Ensure training is conducted for all personnel impacting the quality management system.
  • Identify, define and promote awareness of customer requirements within the organization. Work with department managers to design and implement contract and compliance related training programs for all employees.
  • Work with internal, customer, and third party auditors to conduct audits, collect audit data and process and implement corrective actions resulting for audits. Communicate the resulting responses and corrective actions to third party auditors, customers and the organization.
  • Independently manage internal and external customer interactions as it relates to product or service quality. Provide support to sales team for quality issues impacting the customer.Proficient at process mapping and other process improvement techniques to add customer value during project execution. Actively participate and lead teams in support of continuous improvement initiatives and establish a continuous improvement culture.
  • Develop, initiate and oversee the inspection process. Direct employees engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Develop annual operating budget for department including line item cost detail, headcount changes and capital expenditures. Ensure effective utilization of all resources. Review department P&L on monthly basis to identify cost savings opportunities and areas that are trending out of plan.
  • Manage the complaint and corrective action process. Ensure timely response to issues and recommend actions to reduce repeated issues.
  • Evaluate quality trends and recommend actions. Report any serious or repeated failures, and/or unreliability found in products, vendors, and the quality management system to appropriate management.
  • Understand government and industry regulations and the application within the current business environment.

 This position directly supervises all quality employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Requirements

Individuals must have a Bachelor's degree from a four year college in a related field of study and 5+years of related industrial experience and/or training. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent at the discretion of Human Resources and the hiring Manager.

Certifications include familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean methodologies required. Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ Membership, and/or Lead Auditor/Lead Assessor Training desired.

This position requires the ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports, legal documents and technical journals; strong communication skills, both verbal and written; and the ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

This position requires candidates to be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Individuals must be proficient on a personal computer and have knowledge of ERP systems, Database Software, Spreadsheet Software and Word Processing Software.

This position requires individuals to travel occasionally.
