Job Description


Ellsworth Adhesives Specialty Chemical Distribution Division is looking for a Collections Specialist in it's Germantown, Wisconsin location.

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Collection Specialist is responsible for monitoring customer accounts for compliance to approved credit and payment terms and for following up on past due receivable balances.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Communicate requests for credit term changes to management for discussion and approval.

• Manage customer credit status, terms and limits for existing customers using payment history patterns, information from customers and sales force and 3rd party credit reports.

• Follow up on outstanding invoices through the following activities:

• Make telephone calls to customers for their scheduled pay dates for invoices on account.

• Confer with customer by telephone in attempt to determine reason for overdue payment, debits taken and/or short pays on account. Review terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer.

• Mail form letters to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts. Recommend and place accounts with outside collection agency for further action.

• Review bankruptcy court and other collection documents and determine proper response. File claim with bankruptcy court if necessary.

• Communicate account status to ESR/ ASR in timely manner to request assistance in following up on past due invoices in an effort to resolve problems with customers and minimize potential of lost commissions.

• Reduce days outstanding of invoices through collection of past due accounts.

• Prepare weekly adjustments for review and sign off by Accounting Manager.

• Review and release orders on credit hold.

• Provide guidance to internal and field personnel on credit and collection policy

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or eqivalency (GED, HSED) and 1 - 3 years of related industrial experience and/or training. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent at the discretion of Human Resources and the hiring Manager.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully individuals must be proficient on a personal computer and have knowledge of Accounting Software, Internet Software and Spreadsheet Software.
